THE LEADERS
Throughout the whole book Katniss was seen as the leader people needed to start a rebellion. She was the face of a new beginning and people put their hopes of the future upon her. Her actions have influenced others to start standing up to the Capitol. The way people saw Katniss is like the less violent way farm workers saw Cesar Chavez. In the article “Cesar Chavez and the UFW” by Rick Tejada-Flores talks about how Cesar Chavez was the co-founder of the National Farm Workers Association and how he led the strike of farm workers for higher wage. People went to him for guidance and hope to have their voices heard through him. Through both Katniss and Chavez huge events started, both backed up their people and fought for their groups equality.

"Who gets the risks? The risks are given to the consumer, the unsuspecting consumer and the poor work force. And who gets the benefits? The benefits are only for the corporations, for the money makers."

"Because I’m selfish. I’m a coward. I’m the kind of girl who, when she might actually be of use, would run to stay alive and leave those who couldn’t follow to suffer and die."
